Managing risks, public safety and assets spatially: Web based tree management system at Hume City Council

  • Hume City Council has developed a web based Tree Management application to manage all aspects of some 200,000 Reserve and Street trees within its municipal boundaries. This application was developed due to the fact that trees represent a significant asset base to council as well as presenting substantial risk exposures and associated liabilities.
    Three Management Application is part of Councils Intranet GIS development over its IT network which accessed by more than 500 users. It utilises all the GPS data collection, storage, retrieval, editing and analysis features with additional maintenance processes that includes;

    • Work Record Forms
    • Inspection Forms
    • Thematic Search Tool
    • Risk Assessment features
    • Graphical editing tools
    • Reporting & analysis tools
    • Work Prioritising processes
    Field data collection processes which utilises high accuracy GPS and PDA has fully developed menu system that covers required information for assessment of condition and asset details.
