Plenary Speaker - Peter Woodgate (CRC - SI)
This talk will cover two topics. Firstly it will look at what Australia can do to increase the rate of growth of the spatial information industry. Peter has recently completed a study of the factors that influence the ability of organisations to be innovative. The study is based on research involving 70 companies in Australia's spatial information industry. It also includes a review of innovation best practice world-wide. Peter has identified those factors that can be used to enhance innovation and those that impede innovation.
Secondly the talk will describe four new research investment projects in the Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information that promise to help transform two critical areas in our industry; information exchange, and precise positioning. These projects involve critical partnerships between government and industry. The talk will describe the projects and consider their implications for the industry in Australia.
