Abstract for presentation at Spatial Sciences Institute International Biennial Conference

A spatial analysis of fire related information from northern Australia

  • Andrew Edwards, Bushfires NT, Australia
  • The mapping of the occurrence of fires across northern Australia is undertaken using remotely sensed data of various scales. These data are made available to the public to assist in fire management where the landscapes are so vast that there are no other reasonable means of collecting such information. The fire history can also provide further detail such as the frequency with which an area has burnt, the maximum and minimum time interval between successive fires and the time a fire last occurred.
    A spatial analysis was undertaken.
